Momentary Naiad

Her tabby loads a pounce in prairie grass,
Immersed in scents and sounds of summer life;
Her tabby pins down stealth with restless paws,
Its haunches flexed and eyes intent on flights
Of insects orbiting her working bibs
(Discarded arms and legs of daily chores).
Intentions animate a lazy creek;
They spit and spew and birth in rising air.
She clouds potential, surfs a random breeze,
Then pours the soul of adolescent warmth
In the reflective sighs of lone repose--
The studied curves of a feminine form,
A nude before the eyes of cloud and crow
Whose gaze reflects the light of tomorrow.
